Q and A: A blogger discussion

Welcome to another installment of Q & A: A Blogger Discussion. It's a way for you all to not only be introduced to some great bloggers but to open up a dialog regarding why we blog, what we blog about and a myriad of other issues we face as a result of being a blogger.

So let's get things going with this week's question...

Q: How much information (photos, stories, etc.) to do share about your significant other on your blog? Are they comfortable with the idea of themselves and your relationship being featured on your blog for everyone to see?

Heather // Paper Doll Smile
My fiancé and I have never discussed his feelings towards being mentioned on Paper Doll Smile. It hasn't come up simply because I tend to stray away from blogging about our relationship. With the exception of our wedding that I do document every so often in one of my features, Wedding Planner. It's a big part of my life that I'm very excited about and love the idea of sharing it with others. On the other hand, I do hold back on how much information is released on the blog for privacy reasons. I know that he likes to keep our relationship out of the public eye for the most part, so I respect that. That way things are considered special, when they're not exploited to the blogging world. Occasionally I will post a few pictures of us if we go on a trip, but I much prefer keeping the blog focused on my silly little world full of fashion, pretty things, creativity, and work.

Erica // I Bleed Pink
In regards to my blog and my relationship it’s pretty much an open book. My fiancĂ© actually reads my blog everyday (when I have time to post) and gets on me about posting more often. Since our schedules are crazy busy we don’t get a lot of time together, and he tells me he likes reading my blog because he can kind of catch up with me. Along with that, my blog is kind of a scrapbook to our growing relationship. He is very comfortable with what I post about us, I try to be as real as possible on my blog, but I still know when and what to keep personal and private among us.

I-Zilla says...
I'm kinda of a private person in general so I try not to give out too much personal information, especially about other people. I definitely felt I needed to ask permission first, even though the boy said he didn't mind at all if I posted pictures of him or talked a little bit about our relationship (he says he's internet famous now haha). It's definitely been an issue in the past with a prior relationship and I had to remove posts because he was so uncomfortable with me talking about us even though I never mentioned him by name or posted pictures of him (this was back in when I was predominately blogging on Tumblr). It definitely helped me learn that while it's my blog and technically I can post whatever the hell I want I still need to be respectful, because once you post it and it's out there and seen, you can never really take it back.

Thank you so much Heather and Erica for your input! As a reader feel free to leave a comment answering this week's question or you can simply comment on what you've heard from my featured bloggers. i loved hearing the answers to this question-- my husband used to read my blog more often but now only when I ask him to. ha he is okay with me writing about him but at first was really leery about me using his full name since he's a tv news personality (he does the weather). If you google his full name, he didn't want my little blog coming up about how I can't get enough of him in bed (no i haven't written this -- i don't think? not recently anyway ha) to future employers. lol

that's the only thing, I never use his real name but i do put pictures of him every now and then... this reminds me I need to take more photos of us together.

great Q+A!

love this feature so much Iris! you really are great to open up these types of discussions up for us all, thought provoking and interesting indeed. the boyf was a bit on the fence about what blogging means when i began posting but has since warmed up to the idea and even knows a bunch of my blog friends names now too. so cool! he's not included every day but i find that if it's relevant to share and makes sense to the direction i'm going in then he's all good with whatever goes up.

i still get tingles when he comes home from work and says, "hey, nice post today". ♥
